For the past thirty years Nuytco Research Ltd. has been involved in the production of film and TV specials that have both utilized and featured our unique underwater technology. Nuytco’s portfolio includes made-for-TV specials, TV series, IMAX movies and feature films, including some well-known Hollywood blockbusters.
Titanic
Nuytco designed the thruster technology used by James Cameron to film the underwater footage of Titanic for his blockbuster film of the same name.
Deadliest Catch
Two DeepWorker 2000 submersibles took to the Bering Sea on the Time Bandit to film underwater scenes for the popular Discovery Channel TV show.
Dark Secrets of the Lusitania
This 2011 made-for-TV special produced by National Geographic features Newtsuit and Dual DeepWorker 2000 dives to examine the Lusitania, the infamous casualty of a German U-boat.
The Abyss
Phil Nuytten was senior technical advisor and Nuytco Research Ltd. provided the submersibles and other futuristic subsea devices for James Cameron’s Academy Award® winner.
Flight of the Aquanaut
This IMAX movie featured Phil Nuytten’s invention, the deep-diving ADS Newtsuit.
Sphere
Nuytco Research provided initial concept drawings for the on-film dive helmets and supplied technical support.
Rick Mercer Report
The Nuytco crew showed TV personality Rick Mercer the ropes in a DeepWorker 2000, then went to the bottom in Nuytco’s Aquarius on a dive in British Columbia’s Jervis Inlet.
